Phoenix woman among contestants on tonight’s ‘America’s Got Talent’
LOS ANGELES – Another season of NBC’s highly-rated variety show “America’s Got Talent” kicked off Tuesday night and Scottsdale martial arts master Rose Wang wowed the judges with a display of her skills. Wang won a gold medal at the National Youth Chinese Martial Arts Championship when she was 14 and she currently teaches martial arts in Scottsdale. Heidi Klum buzzed Wang, but the rest of the judges voted her through to next week.
After a record-breaking 10th season, the summer series returned with big news: “Got Talent” creator and executive producer Simon Cowell joins the judges panel alongside Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel.
Nick Cannon is back as host, and the series returns to Los Angeles this summer, with live shows broadcast from the famed Dolby Theatre.
“America’s Got Talent” has brought the variety format back to the forefront of American culture by showcasing unique performers from across the country. The series is a true celebration of creativity and talent, featuring a colorful array of singers, dancers, comedians, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians, ventriloquists and hopeful stars, all vying to win America’s hearts and the $1 million prize.
Last summer, “America’s Got Talent” remained the #1 summer show in total viewers for the 10th consecutive year. The season concluded with a star-studded performance at Radio City Music Hall with contestant Paul Zerdin taking home the grand prize by winning over viewers with his inventive and unique take on ventriloquism, using comedic characters and personalities to outshine thousands of acts.
